Calligrapher Box

An exceptional mother-of-pearl and bone inlaid Ottoman Calligrapher Box made of cypress. Sultan II. Abdulhamid tugra on. Dated 1298 Hijri. Cover the top of the monogram is located within the four corners of the frame is inlaid with a crescent. There are verses around the Calligrapher Box. Lock system is missing. It is in excellent condition.

A similar Calligrapher Box (Lot # 195) sold 190.000 $ at Sotheby’s 7th october 2009 auction.

Dimensions: 15.3 inches (43 cm) length, 9.75 inches (24.5 cm) heigth, 9.75 inches (24.5 cm) width.
