Bronze Gilt Mantel Clock

Bronze Gilt Mantel Clock dates from the second quarter of the 19th C. (c.1840).The style of this marvelous mantel clock is Empire and the bronze gilt is in excellent condition.The other parts of the clock are bronze with an original and beautiful brown and dark green patina.Good running and striking condition with 8 days going work and the 1/1 and 1/2 hours striking on a silvered bell. The dial is signed with ” Hodel a Strassbourg “. Frederic Hodel was a very famous clockmaker in France at that time.On top of the clock is a representation of a man who comes back from hunting and is welcomed by his wife.

The dimensions are: Height: 17 inches (43 cm), width: 12 inches (30.5 cm) and depth: 4 inches (10 cm).
