Bronze Gilt Mantel Clock Item
Bronze gilt mantel clock that dates from the second quarter of the 19th C. (c. 1840). The bronze movement is signed on the back with ” Pons-Medaille d’Or( Gold Medal )-1827. Honore Pons was one of the most famous clockmakers in France at that time. Perfect running and striking condition with an 8 days going work on a Silk suspension and the 1/1 and 1/2 hours striking on a bronze silvered bell. On top of the clock is a representation of Queen Marie Antoinette the consort of King Louis XVI from France. It is very finely detailed and ornate with books, a scroll of parchment and a crown. Below there are two swans with a beautiful garland. The porcelain dial has black roman numerals and the steel hands are fantastic detailed and handmade.
The dimensions are: Height: 17,5 inches (44.5 cm), width: 16 inches (40.5 cm) and depth: 6,5 inches (16.5 cm).
